STORIES FOR SOCIETY - BERÄTTELSER FÖR SAMHÄLLET Throughout human history stories have been our way of communicating who we are and how we would like our society to be. At Stories for Society we renew this ancient art in a way that is accessible to children, to teachers and at schools. Growing up has never been easy. Today it is even more complex than in the past as a result of the amount of information and the number of impressions that strike children daily. More than any other generation in the past, today's children need the tools with which to process and manage their mental, emotional and physical reactions to the fast-moving world around them. Story-telling can provide an excellent framework for children to share and work through things that are on their minds in a safe and fun forum. There are many good arguments as to why new pedagogical methods, such as story-telling, are needed. Schools bear the responsibility of stimulating children to learn and to be prepared for the demands of a workplace which will require ever more confidence in communicating effectively, believing in one's own capacities, and being resourceful and creative. These are skills that story-telling can strengthen. With schools under resource pressure, there is a need for techniques which make it possible to include children with different types of learning capacities. Our experience is that story-telling offers the widest number of children the opportunity to communicate in a meaningful way and to bring their strengths to the fore.
